Transient Voltage UWB Online Monitoring System for Insulation Failure Analysis and Fault Location of GIL

Transient voltage generated in ultra-high (UHV) transmission system has a severe impact on the insulation state of gas-insulated lines (GIL). In order to monitor transient process occurring UHV GIL during operation, this paper constructs ultra-wideband (UWB) online monitoring based capacitive division. This been applied an 1100 kilovolt (kV) utility tunnel project. It can be used analyze characteristics recorded waveforms for distinguishing different types failure. paper, through case studies time domain and time–frequency domain, SF6 gap breakdown that post insulator flashover have differentiated instantaneous frequency. Additionally, secondary discharge is successfully estimated distribution voltage. find malfunctioning chamber rapidly, two-terminal TW-based fault location method developed paper. The study validates locating accuracy which directly support shortening maintenance GIL.
